About PhotoCraft Online

What this site is

PhotoCraft Online is an independent website with two jobs. First, it runs a free image editor in your browser — the official PhotoCraft web build, compiled from Rust to WebAssembly, embedded here so you can edit photos without installing anything. Second, it publishes factual guides and reviews about the PhotoCraft project: how to download and install it on Windows, macOS and Linux, how its GitHub repository is organized, and how its capabilities compare with Adobe Photoshop.

What PhotoCraft is

PhotoCraft is a free, open-source image editor developed atgithub.com/storytold/photocraft. It is a clean-room reimplementation of the Adobe Photoshop workflow, written entirely in Rust and licensed under the MIT and Apache-2.0 licenses. It offers layers, masks, adjustment layers, a brush engine, type and vector tools, and reads and writes Photoshop PSD files. The project also publishes its own parity measurements against Photoshop 2026 in its public documentation.

Our editorial approach

Every factual claim on this site about PhotoCraft's features, readiness or limitations is drawn from the project's own public materials — its repository, README, roadmap and parity documents — or from direct use of the software. We do not invent numbers or stage fake comparisons. Where something is not yet good (PhotoCraft is early alpha software, and its published readiness numbers say so), we say so plainly.

Independence and trademarks

PhotoCraft Online is not the official website of the PhotoCraft project, and it is not affiliated with Adobe Inc. "Photoshop" is a trademark of Adobe; "PhotoCraft" is the name of the open-source project described above, used here for identification and commentary. This site uses no official project branding or logos.

How the site is funded

The editor is free and always will be. The site may display advertising or affiliate recommendations to cover hosting costs; if and when that happens, we disclose it on this page and in our privacy policy. Editorial content is never sold.
